WMIHS will be hosting a virtual presentation on October 10th, largely focused on air sampling for respirable crystalline silica (RCS) and the newer Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) regulation. It will also contain information helpful to those with RCS issues in general industry and construction. But…beyond that – one of the presentations will also include discussion of direct reading aerosol monitors. Many of us know that there is no direct reading device out there that can directly differentiate respirable silica containing aerosols vs other aerosols, but sometimes correlations can be made between respirable aerosol measurements, and the fraction of those aerosols that might constitute RCS.
